Here in the UK, finding the cheapest train ticket is a black art. You can end up getting ripped off if you don’t know the tricks of getting discount tickets.
I just bought some tickets from London to Somerset – a round trip of around 300 miles. If I bought these just before travelling it would have cost me £55, but booking in advance online cost me just £25.
The savings can be even greater, with single fares starting at just £1. It sounds too good to be true, but using www.megabus.com saves me a fortune. There are a limited number of these tickets though, so you have to be reasonably quick off the mark. Another good one to check out is National Express coaches. Their “FunFares” run between the major cities from just £1.
